Bipolar Disorder
“According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 5.7 million people struggle with bipolar disorder; studies have found that 50% start showing signs before age 19. One out of five bipolar will commit suicide”. Bipolar disorder caught my eye while reading about it because it affects so many people. This affects men and women equally. Someone who suffers from bipolar disorder can go from being energetic and outgoing to feeling almost worthless and depressed within a span of a few days or a few months. This disorder can be caused by many things. It can be inherited through your parent's genes or it can be caused by a great amount of stress and conflict in a person’s environment.
After doing further research online, I found plenty of interesting facts on bipolar disorder. The usual age of bipolar disorder is the late teen's too early twenties. Also, bipolar disorder is not curable. That being said, people with it will go through phases and mood swings. Even though it is a lifelong illness, it is one of the most manageable illnesses because the treatments out there are really good.
This topic is important for many reasons. Bipolar disorder is one of the most known disorders out there for teens and young adults. Since it is popular in people our age, knowing about it is important. We need to keep ourselves informed about this because you never know what could happen.
This applies to us for many reasons. As people in the age range for bipolar disorder, we need to look out for the signs just in case. If we stay informed, we can try to notify people about the signs and try to stay away from the disorder.

I agree with you 100% that people need to be informed about Bipolar Disorder. This Disorder is a huge issue and I wish that there are more people who could also see how big of an issue this disorder is. I know a lot of people who think that being Bipolar is nothing serious and that it could be cured, when it really can't. Honestly, it's a shame how so many people just put this issue on the back burner and don't pay attention to it because there are a lot of people who cannot live happy and healthy lives because of this disorder. To wrap this up, I'm so happy that you're doing your blog about a issue that is overlooked (and I personally feel that it's overlooked).
